Hello, I’m Ms. Janel and this is my first year at Ocean Shores Elementary. I am originally from Denver, Colorado and I have lived in Sequim, Washington with my son for the past 14 years. Ocean Shores holds a special place in my heart as I used to vacation here with my family. I decided to move to Ocean Shores when my son decided to go to Colorado State University for college. 

I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Interdisciplinary Studies.  I have taught both first and third grade. I have worked with young children since I was twelve years old, and I am VERY excited to be teaching Preschool at Ocean Shores Elementary!

I chose a career in education because I believe that after being a parent, teaching is one of the most important jobs in life and I wanted more than a "job." I believe that all children, despite their socioeconomic status, learning style or ethnicity, have the inherent right to receive the best education available to them. By providing a solid education, teachers can make a difference toward the future growth and development for ALL children.

My favorite thing to do in my free time is go for walks on the beach, spend as much time as possible with my son, and make jewelry!
